The ultimate family space transforming a typical new build style 4 bed house into statement home, proving that luxury and practicality can live in perfect harmony.
When Stacey, her partner, their adorable two-year-old toddler Quinn, English Bulldog Tony, and majestic fluffball Kirkby, moved into their brand-new home just outside Hatfield, Doncaster, they knew the standard developer layout wouldn't cut it. A celebrated area for families, Hatfield offers the ideal backdrop for raising children, but the house itself lacked the bespoke warmth and expansive feel Stacey, a former model and successful makeup artist, envisioned.
The standard, integrated garage - a common but often underutilised feature in new builds - was the immediate target of Stacey's visionary ambition. Three years into life in the new property, Stacey was ready to execute a full, stunning transformation that screams luxury and high functionality.
The Heart of the Home: Grand Open-Plan Living
Stacey's design pivot was brave and utterly effective: removing several internal walls to completely open up the back of the house and the main wall to the integral garage. The result is a breathtaking, unified family space that flows seamlessly, designed to cater to both Stacey’s passion for cooking and the family’s need for connection.
The Chef's Sanctuary
The Wren Kitchen forms the magnificent core, distinguished by an abundance of deep, functional worktops. The star of the show is the integrated breakfast bar, which boasts dramatic waterfall ends. This sophisticated feature also accommodates a generous, family-friendly dining table for more formal entertaining.
Over the cooker area, a truly unique feature captivates the eye: a bespoke, joint-free mantel that anchors the entire kitchen design. This architectural statement, which the original kitchen supplier could not provide, is beautifully accented with brass detailing and furniture, elevating the entire space beyond standard high-street design.
An Island of Regret (and Inspiration)
“My only regret,” Stacey confides, “is that I didn’t push for a statement island, thinking we didn’t have the room elsewhere.” However, the magnificent space created elsewhere more than compensates, especially when considering the ultimate material choice.
The Stone Statement: Alba Tempesta
Just two weeks before installation, Stacey visited the showroom in York and made a dramatic, yet inspired, change of heart from the original white choices (like Siena Gold or Ultra White). She chose the breathtaking Alba Tempesta from the Stonelore Collection.

GET PRICE & SAMPLESThis stunning stone, with its standard double bevel edging, is a masterpiece of natural drama. Like the first light of dawn breaking through a storm, Alba Tempesta combines a bright base with dramatic, grey veining. This colour adds a sense of vitality and energy, creating a captivating focal point in every surface. The stone perfectly embodies the luxurious, aspirational, and warm feel that defines the entire home.
Cosy Corners and Functional Luxury
Beyond the kitchen and dining area, the open space transitions into a relaxed family snug. This is the perfect haven for cosy evenings spent watching a great family movie, with Quinn and Tony curled up on the sofa and Kirkby finding the sunniest spot.
The Hidden Utility
The brilliant repurposing of the integrated garage internal wall unlocked a hugely practical area: a generous and gorgeous utility area. This is where functionality disappears in favour of clean lines. All appliances - from microwaves to air fryers - are housed discreetly, out of sight of the main cooking and hosting space.
A wealth of floor-to-ceiling storage keeps all the necessities, including food for Tony and Kirkby, perfectly organised.
The Designer Cloakroom
The space freed up also allowed for a stunning, generous-sized downstairs WC and built-in cloakroom along with housing all the essential white goods for family life. Here, the choice of Alba Tempesta on the vanity and upstands truly elevates the room to another level, turning a necessity into a luxurious design statement. Stacey found the inspiration for this particular application on Instagram, demonstrating how the digital world fuelled her spectacular vision.
Finally, the entire area is flooded with light and connects directly to the outdoors via stunning doors opening out to a beautifully maintained garden that backs onto protected grassland - a beautiful, tranquil view that seals the feeling of a secluded, bespoke family sanctuary.
Stacey’s home is a masterclass in aspirational design: a warm, luxurious family hub born from a standard new-build blueprint, proving that a clear vision and a dramatic stone choice can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
