Both are inspired by Italian marble, but they create very different looks.
Calacatta effect - bolder, more dramatic veining on a warm white background. The veins are typically gold, grey or brown, creating a luxurious, high-impact surface. Ideal for statement islands and open-plan kitchens where the worktop is the centrepiece.

The comparison comes down to practicality. Real marble absorbs liquids and stains without regular sealing, scratches easily from knives and pans, and is permanently marked by acidic foods like lemon and vinegar. It also needs professional resealing every 6–12 months. High-quality natural marble often costs significantly more than engineered quartz, before you factor in ongoing maintenance.

Marble-effect quartz requires exactly the same simple care as our solid-colour range. Clean daily with warm water and a soft cloth. For stubborn marks, a non-abrasive cream cleaner works well. Avoid bleach and scouring pads.
