The Industry’s New Quality Mark

We’re proud to share that Gemini Worktops has achieved Audited Member status under the Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF) Quality Mark — the highest of the scheme’s three tiers, independently inspected by a British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) auditor in addition to WFF’s own assessment.

It’s a milestone worth pausing on. Not because we set out chasing certifications, but because the process of earning it held a mirror up to something we’ve believed for four generations: that quality isn’t a marketing line, it’s a discipline you have to keep proving.

WFF Quality Mark

What the WFF Quality Mark Actually Verifies

Launched in April 2026, the WFF Quality Mark is a new industry-wide initiative built with the support of scientific research, input from across the supply chain, and collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). It introduces a structured framework across three tiers:

As Nigel Fletcher, Operations Officer at WFF, put it on launch: “Through the launch of the WFF Quality Mark, we are setting a clear benchmark for professionalism, safety, and operational excellence across the fabrication sector. This programme is designed to reward commitment to best practice, protect workforces, and improve long-term profitability for responsible businesses.”

For a sector where the raw material is heavy, sharp, and — if mishandled — genuinely hazardous to the people working with it, that’s not a small thing to have independently verified against.

Gemini Worktops Meets the Audit Requirements

After our assessment, WFF and BOHS have confirmed that Gemini Worktops meets the Quality Mark’s full audit requirements, allowing us to promote and market our products as compliant.

In their words:

“The standard goes beyond legal compliance and meeting it achieves a benchmark that few in any part of the construction sector can currently evidence.”

That’s a high bar, and it’s not one you clear once and forget about - the confirmation is explicit that this is subject to continued adherence and ongoing commitment to the standard, not a one-off badge. That’s exactly how we intend to treat it: as a floor to maintain, not a ceiling to celebrate and move past.

Why This Matters for an Independent, Family-Run Business

The businesses shaping this scheme alongside WFF - spanning distributors, stone suppliers, fabricators, and national kitchen retailers - represent exactly the kind of "growing movement" WFF describes: a sector-wide shift towards safety, consistency, and professional accountability.

Gemini Worktops sits in that movement too, but from a different starting point. We’re a fourth-generation, family-owned business, with our factory in Middlesbrough and a stunning showroom in the grounds of Rossmoor Park, just outside York. We compete on relationships, on craftsmanship, on knowing our customers by name - not on scale or shareholder pressure.

That’s exactly why Audited Member status means something particular for us. Reaching the top tier of an externally audited framework isn’t the expected output of an existing compliance department - it’s a direct reflection of a choice: to invest in getting the fundamentals right because four generations of the same family have built their name on it, not because anyone told us to.

Factory Story 1

The Work Behind the Award

Getting here wasn’t a paperwork exercise. It reflects sustained investment across our factory floor:

None of this is glamorous. It’s the unglamorous, repeatable groundwork that ends up being the actual difference between a worktop that’s fitted well and one that isn’t.

What This Means for You

WFF has urged KBB designers and specifiers to partner only with reputable, audited fabricators — and to question non-members about their standards and independent assessment. It can be genuinely difficult to tell the difference between a business that talks about quality and one that’s built its operation around it. This scheme exists precisely because that gap is hard to see from the outside.

Choosing Gemini Worktops means choosing a source-to-surface, end-to-end service — from your first consultation through laser templating to installation — backed now by an independent industry body confirming what our customers have told us in their reviews for years: that the process, start to finish, is done properly. You can see every one of our awards and accreditations, and how to verify them independently, on one page.

We’re proud of this. Not because it changes who we are, but because it confirms it.

Independently inspected. Fully accredited.

The WFF Quality Mark sits alongside every other standard we're audited against. Take a look at what we hold and what it means for your worktops.
