Gemini Worktops is a rapidly growing family-owned business. Due to continued and significant growth, we are now looking for an experienced, professional, and detail orientated Production Supervisor (Shift) to join our growing team.

Production Supervisor (Shift) - Permanent Full Time - Monday to Friday, shift based 06:00-14:30 or 13:30 – 22:00 - £38,000 p.a plus 15% shift allowance (£43,700)

We are seeking a highly organised and committed Production Supervisor (Shift) to join our growing team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a shift producing bespoke quartz worktops in our Middlesbrough factory.

In this role you will be responsible for a shop-floor team of 20/30 operators. You will oversee the day-to-day shop floor manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards ensuring our RFT/OTIF targets are met. Lead by example with a hands-on, proactive leadership style.

You will have a team of team leaders who you will coach and develop through having an approach of fresh ideas to challenge the status quo, delivering continuous improvement, and unlocking the full potential of your team and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example to ensure safe working practices are maintained or improved across all production operations.
  • Ensuring all resources are aligned to delivering the company production requirements in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for setting, monitoring and reacting to variances to production targets for safety, quality, delivery, cost & people.
  • Achieve the required quality standards ensuring both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively liaise and coordinate with support functions to remove barriers concerning production planning, resource and skill allocation to ensure delivery of product is right first time & OTIF.
  • Maintaining a healthy and transparent relationship with HR, Installations, Sales & Customer service, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Finance teams.
  • Identify and develop the capability of your team to meet current and future production needs and to deliver a programme of continual career development for team members.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of a continuous improvement culture in the team using lean CI methodology as well as teaching structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Lead and assist in improvement projects ensuring resources are engaged, capable and projects deliver on time in full.
  • Promote Total Productive Maintenance procedures to further improve the availability of plant machinery as well as demonstrating a responsive nature towards reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure all internal & external auditory standards and improvement requirements are met.
  • People focused attitude with the ability to lead the team’s compliance to company policies & procedures whilst managing time & Attendance and ER cases.
  • Carry out Toolbox Talks and Safety Briefings and ensure they are being followed.
  • Manage attendance, timekeeping, and shift coverage to deliver maximum production output.
  • Carry out/assist with early-stage disciplinary procedures.

Experience

  • Experience of delivering an excellent safety performance within a company that strives to deliver an Injury Free workplace.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of production Leadership experience. Managing two shift teams with a minimum of 20-30 staff.
  • Proven experience of delivering sustained productivity and cost improvements whilst maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Strong employee engagement with focus on team building, coaching, communication and stakeholder management
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skill, with the ability to inspire, implement and drive change; whilst maintaining and improving employee engagement.
  • Experienced in Root, Cause, Analysis (RCT) to proactively respond when potential failures occur.

Qualifications & Training

  • Minimum 2 years of Lean CI experience together with a track record of using these skills to drive business improvements whilst embedding a zero-loss mind-set.
  • Experience in disciplinary and grievances procedures.
  • Numerate with good data analysis skills. Competent with Microsoft Office skills.
  • BTec Higher Professional Diploma, NVQ level 4.
  • IOSH Health & Safety management qualification - Desirable
  • Experience within stone manufacturing industry - Desirable.
