Hello, I'm Mark Jennison, and I've been part of the Gemini Worktops factory team since 2011. My role as a Team Leader involves guiding and inspiring my fellow team members, delegating tasks, and ensuring that every aspect of our work meets the high standards we pride ourselves on. From overseeing progress towards factory goals to maintaining health and safety standards, my job is to ensure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

When did you join Gemini Worktops and how has your role progressed over the years?

I began my journey with Gemini Worktops as an apprentice, starting in 2011. I’ve experienced a significant evolution in my role. I initially worked as a saw man, cutting upstands, but quickly expanded my skills by learning to operate and program various machines.

My career path took me from edge polishing and CNC operations to using a Proline digitizer for template adjustments. Each step has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of our processes and contribute more effectively to our team.

Tell us about your typical day at the factory?

A typical day at the factory involves organizing tasks for my team, from handling trolleys to checking the quality of quartz worktops. I ensure that we adhere to the production schedule and meet our targets. I also manage the A-frame with the quality control team, overseeing remakes and making sure all pieces are prepared for delivery. Keeping morale high is essential, so I strive to bring fun and laughter to the workplace while also being a go-to person for any issues or help needed.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

What I cherish most about my role is the journey from starting with minimal experience to becoming a team leader. The responsibility of leading a team and earning their trust has been incredibly rewarding. It’s gratifying to see how far we’ve come together and to know that people rely on me for support and guidance.
