Supply Chain Assistant - up to £27k dep on experience - Full or Part Time - Permanent

The Supply Chain Assistant will support the end-to-end supply chain process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, coordination of logistics, and smooth communication between departments. This role is vital in maintaining production schedules and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source and order raw materials (e.g., stone slabs and accessories).
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Track and expedite purchase orders to meet production deadlines.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and assist in supplier audits.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Monitor stock levels and reorder materials to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using internal systems.
  • Support implementation of stock control improvements and automation.

Production Support

  • Liaise with the factory team to ensure timely availability of materials for scheduled jobs.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling deliveries to align with production and installation timelines.
  • Communicate material delays or issues to relevant departments promptly.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Coordinate inbound shipments of raw materials from China and outbound deliveries from the third party storage facility to the factory.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods.
  • Work with transport providers to schedule and track deliveries.
  • Prepare delivery documentation and ensure compliance with transport regulations.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, and supplier communications.
  • Assist in preparing reports on supply chain performance, costs, and KPIs.
  • Support Management with data entry, filing, and document control.

Cross-Departmental Coordination

  • Collaborate with design, sales, and installation teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Communicate lead times and material availability to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates on supply chain activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and suggest opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and waste reduction.
  • Support implementation of new systems or processes to enhance supply chain operations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in supply chain and logistics.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with company health and safety policies.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents related to materials handling or logistics.
